The 18 hole Alcaidesa
Links Golf Course is the first competition
standard golf course in Spain which falls
into the Links category. Alcaidesa is
refered to as a links course because it
is situated along the coastline and because
you need to know how to handle the windy
conditions. However, the landing areas
are well suitable to players of all ages
and abilities who are looking for a good
day's golfing without having to bend the
ball one way or the other. The greens
are not too large or complicated, but
to card a good score or win your bet,
you will need to hit it straight and have
a good short game
The superb layout runs parallel with the
coastline amidst hills of the Alcaidesa
countryside. Whilst playing it the silent
presence of the majestic rock of Gibraltar
is very apparent with the Atlas mountains
of Africa viewable in the distant horizon
on a clear day.
The work carried out in 1999 has apparently
worked wonders for the maintenance of
this fast developing golf club. It is
great fun playing here when there is a
little sea breeze in the air.
Its spectacular layout borders the beach
amidst hills and natural vegetation. Whilst
playing it, there is no way to escape
the silent presence of the majestic rock
of Gibraltar and the Atlas mountains of
Africa which mark the distant horizon. |
