An attractively landscaped course designed by Dave Thomas that is both challenging and fair. Fairways are wide and lined with mature trees. There are water hazards on many holes and the course is renowned for its large bunkers. A tremendous challenge and a favourite with UK golfers. The 18th is amongst the finest finishing holes in Europe.
The San Roque Club is the social heart of this area of far west Costa del Sol. Special events are sometimes held here, including outdoor concerts during the summer months
The Club now houses the latest David Leadbetter Golf Academy (DLGA). Its philosophy is flexible to golfers of all ages and abilities and is recognised as the leading golf instruction academy in the world and it prides itself on providing a quality and consistency of instruction at outstanding facilities, using state-of-the-art equipment, across the world.
The New Course designed by the renowned American course designer Perry Dye is a second championship golf course at The San Roque golf Club that was built in 2002. 6626 metres from the championship tees. It aims to complement the Old Course, while presenting a very different challenge.
The course incorporates the contours of the San Roque hills, giving golfers wonderful views to the Guadalquiton River and the Mediterranean Sea beyond.
The idea was to create a course that is a challenge for scratch and low handicap golfers, but that is also possible for higher handicap players to enjoy. Each hole has five different tee positions and fairways that are wider than those on the Old Course. However, these fairways are designed to reward clever tactics and skilful drive placement. Water hazards guard four of the greens, also defended by more than a hundred strategic bunkers, which lie in wait for wayward or ambitious drivers.
