. It is classified as a fishing harbour/marina. The fishing fleet is of the estuary kind and traditional with 90 boats devoted to sea food, purse and trawling fishing. The fishing area includes the eastern coast of Malaga from Motril (Granada) up to Fuengirola and Estepona on the western side. The most characteristic species caught are white bait, sardines, hornpike, octopus, scad, and hake that are traded daily at the harbour fish market. The harbour entry channel is marked by buoys and its bar draught varies between five and nine metres. The unloading wharf measures 90 metres in length while the berthing jetty is 510 metres long. |
