The Algarve
One of Europe's most popular holiday destinations famed for its golden beaches and fine cuisine....
The Algarve
Malaga Province - Costa del Sol &
Inland
The Malaga province is split
into six main areas, Malaga City, La Axarquia,
Antequera, Guadalhorce, Ronda and Costa del Sol
West. Malaga is the most well know of the regions
in Andalucia and one of the most popular holiday
destinations in Europe. Some of the well known
inland and coastal towns and villages include
Marbella, Puerto Banus, Fuengirola, Estepona,
Torremolinos, Nerja, Frigiliana, Mijas, Ronda,
Antequera and Casares. The Malaga city itself
is often overlooked by tourists who arrive at
the airport and then head for main coastal resorts,
however, it is well worth taking a trip to the
historic center and port of the city. You can
take a trip on an open top bus that will show
you the sights and enjoy the shopping and dining
in some of the best stores and restaurants in
the area.

Area
Cadiz Province - Costa del Sol (Far
West) and Costa de la Luz (South)
The Cadiz province is split
into the main areas of Campo de Gibraltar, Costa
de la Luz (South) and the Sierra de Grazalema.
The area has some of the best coastline in Spain
where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic with
mile after mile of golden sandy beaches. Windsurfers
love the area and there are many surfing schools
for new or novice surfers. Half of the province
is covered by national parks and the whole area
is less crowded and has less development which
makes a good holiday choice for those looking
for a quiet and relaxing break. Popular destinations
include Cadiz, Tarifa, Chiclana de la Frontera,
Jerez and trips to Gibraltar and Morocco. There
are less self catering villas and apartments
available for rent in Cadiz compared to the
thousands available on the Costa del Sol as
development is more restricted so demand for
accommodation is high. However, there are still
many attractive apartments and high quality
villas both inland and on the coast with the
widest choices in Sotogrande, Jimena de la Frontera,
Vejer de la Frontera, Chiclana de la Frontera,
Conil de la Frontera and Zahara de los Atunes.

Huelva Province - Costa de la Luz (North)
The Huelva province is
made up of Costa de la Luz (North), Huelva,
Donana, Niebla, Andevalo and the Sierra Aracena.
The province is located in the south west corner
of Andalucia bordering Portugal and is often
referred to as the Spanish Algarve. A large
part of the area is covered by the Donana National
Park that effectively cuts itself off from the
southern part of the Costa de la Luz in the
Cadiz province. There are some attractive traditional
towns worth visiting such as Ayamonte which
has its own marina and the fishing village of
Punta Umbria. The newly created Isla Canela
resort of marina apartments and golf resorts
has really taken provided a boast to residential
tourism and visitor numbers The beaches in the
area really are stunning and you can find yourself
in winter standing completely alone on a sunny
beach with golden sand stretching as far as
the eye can see. The area is relatively new
to large scale tourism compared to other areas
and the infrastructure as far as dining and
entertainment is developing all the time. The
area is well represented for golf with several
courses located within 15 minutes drive of each
other. Private self catering holiday rental
accommodation is mainly focused in the Isla
Canela, Ayamonte, Isla Cristina and Islantilla
area.

Granada Province - Costa Tropical
The Granada province has
six main areas, Granada City, Baza, Guadix,
Loja, Lecrin Valley and the Sierra Nevada West.
The Sierra Nevada - west is located south of
Granada with the highest mountains in Andalucia,
Las Alpujarras, Mulhacen and Veleta. Below are
the tranquil wooded valleys and small villages.
Granada city is a classic example of traditional
Spain with a wealth of history reflected in
the buildings and architecture, the most famous
of which being the much photographed Moorish
Alhambra Palace. Though a little cooler than
Seville, temperatures in the summer can get
very high for walking around and you will have
to book in advance to visit the Alhambra. The
lakes and natural parks make ideal winter and
spring break holidays. There are some wonderful
rural self catering cortijos available for rent
direct from the owners in the area (Lecrin Valley,
Illora, Montefrio) giving you a taste of the
real Spain. Many of them offer accommodation
for large parties and some are split accommodation
similar to the gites you see in France.
Almunecar
Almeria Province
The Almeria province is split into the main areas
of Almeria, Mojacar, Cabo de Gata, Sierra Nevada
East, Roquetas, Almanzora, Los Filabres and Los
Velez. Almeria is the most easterly of the eight
provinces with over 200km's of coastline and secluded
beaches along the Costa de Almeria. The coastal
stretch along the Cabo de Gata is particularly
beautiful. Mojacar is probably the most popular
location in the province situated in the foothills
of the Sierra Cabrera. There are approximately
14 km's of coastline in this area and of that
some 5 km's of beach bars and restaurants. The
town itself is built on a steep hillside with
whitewashed townhouses and small shops and businesses.
The climate is warm throughout the year making
it an ideal holiday destination during any season.
The wide diversity of the area is evident when
you see the many natural parks, mountains, lakes
and coastline. There is a good selection of self-catering
accommodation in Almeria with Mojacar Playa, Mojacar
Pueblo, Bedar, Cabo de Gata and Roquetas offering
the widest choice of villas and apartments for
rent.
Seville Province
The province of Seville/Sevilla is made up of
the main areas of Sevilla, Osuna, Utrera, Santiponce,
Cazalla del la Sierra, Carmona and Ecija. Seville
is the capital of Andalucia and the third largest
in Spain. Seville city is stunning and has a lot
of interesting architecture and monuments including
the Moorish fortress Alcazar, Torre del Oro cathedral
and La Giralds. Situated along the Guadalquivir
river, in Seville you can enjoy excellent tapas
and wine in a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. The
city was the center of Spain's greatest periods
in history and shouldn't be missed. The city gets
extremely hot in July and August and we would
suggest visiting at other times to enjoy the place
to the full. There is now more British owned self-catering
accommodation available primarily in the surrounding
areas of Gerena, Pedrera, Estepa, Osuna and Seville
itself.
Cordoba Province
Cordoba province is split into five zones, Guadalquivir,
Alto Guadiato, La Campina, Los Pedroches and La
Subbetica and the province is split in two by
the huge Rio Guadalquivir, on whose banks stand
the city of Cordoba. The province of Cordoba is
a region in which you'll find agriculture, arts
and crafts, and tourism. Its capital city, Cordoba,
a open city with an infrastructure for tourism,
won't disappoint you. This Andalucian city has
a different air. Its glorious past has left numerous
historical traces, such as the Cathedral-Mosque
of Cordoba, the Plaza Mayor, the Alcázar
and a great number of churches and palaces, such
as the palace of the Marquis of Vienna. More people
from the UK have purchased property in the area
as the popularity of inland homes has really taken
off in recent years and there is now a better
selection of self-catering accommodation available
for rent, mainly in the Iznajar area.
