Ayamonte is an attractive town with the marina
and bridge visible on first arrival to the town
which helps create a positive first impression.
There is a selection of attractive shops and
well presented relaxing cafes and restaurants
more akin to a larger cosmopolitan town and
tourist location in contrast to the nearby working
town of Lepe.
The fishing port town of Ayamonte
is located in the most western zone of Andalucia,
on the mouth of the Guadiana River, which serves
as a border with Portugal. Ayamonte has a population
of more than 18,000 inhabitants, which increases
considerably during the vacation times and is
united by train with the capital of the province
Huelva with the Andalucian capital Seville and
with Portugal. The locations of Ayamonte, Isla
Cristina, Lepe and the suburbs and the golf
resort of Islantilla are all located within
15 minutes of each other.
The fishing boats that navigate the Guadiana
River ads to the distinctive features of a tourist
town. Excellent beaches, like those of Isla
Canela and the Punta del Moral, splendid landscapes
at the foot of the Guadiana are an unbelievable
artistic cultural asset at the border to Portugal.
