Frigiliana, Costa del Sol, Andalucia, Spain

Frigiliana is a well maintained picture postcard village that usually features on the excursion lists for tourists who stay on the east side of the Costa de Sol. It could be regarded as the Mijas village of the east though a lot smaller and hillier and has a population of less than 3000 people.

The local population clearly take great pride in their village with lovely pot plants on the windows and walls and regular painting and maintenance of the properties. Thankfully the local council have imposed strict planning regulations to avoid the village getting spoilt and various schemes have been stopped that were thought to be out of keeping with the character of Frigiliana.

There are several places to eat and drink and some great vistas where you can see right across the village.

Frigiliana is located in the Axarquia district on the easternmost region of the province of Malaga. The village is easy to find North of the main A7 coastal motorway and is clearly signposted off the main Nerja exit. Nearby towns include Competa, famous for its wine and raisins, and Torrox.
