Gibraltar

GibraltarGibraltar
The sight of the rock of Gibraltar rising out Majestically from the sea is one that you never tire of looking at regardless of how long you've lived on the coast. On a clear day it can be seen from Marbella and beyond and on a misty day there is something rather eerie about it when you approach it.

Many expats visit on a regular basis to stock up on British goods at the Safeway/Morrisons supermarket and Marks and Spencers. Gibraltar makes a pleasant day trip where you can do some shopping, enjoy a traditional pint of beer and lunch in one of the many pubs and visit the historic areas. Most if not all shops, bars and restaurants accept euros and sterling though you may find it cheaper to use a debit or credit card so you don't pay over the odds on the currency exchange.

Gibraltar is relatively small so you can imagine the congestion and difficulty parking therefore, if you're not planning to bring much back with you it is much easier (and a lot less stressful) to park at the border and walk the 100 meters to the bus stop and catch one of the many buses into the centre. You can see most of Gibraltar on foot including the museum though you'll probably want to take a trip on the cable car to the top of the cliff where you can marvel at the view and see the famous monkeys.
