Lepe is a small market
town west of Huelva on the N431 towards Portugal. It
has some interesting features and a pleasant central
square though its main appeal lies in the golf facilities
and coastline.
Lepe is also a useful place to stock up on provisions
and has a large number of hardware shops and mechanical
workshops that serve the farming community.
The main beach in Lepe, La Antilla is practically deserted
in winter is just a few kilometers from the town center
and boasts more than 20 km of beautiful beach. Because
of the growth in tourism in Spain during the last 60
years, it's no wonder Lepe and its beaches have become
of growing interest to tourists.
During the summer, the municipal government promotes
many sports activities. Windsurfing is one of the most
popular nautical sports thanks the climate during the
whole year.
The town is best known for its strawberries and is regarded
as the strawberry capital of Spain though this is not
evident to the casual visitor. |
