Torre del Mar is located 32 kilometers east from Malaga airport in the direction of Nerja. Torre del Mar is the coastal resort area of Velez Malaga, capital of the Axarquia region though is expected to eventually become recognized as a separate town in its own right. This is due to the large expansion of the area including new out of town retail park and campaigns by local people.

The town, a popular holiday location amongst Spaniards enjoys 4 kilometers of sandy beach with plenty of ice cream parlours and cafes along an attractive promenade leading to the Marina of Caleta de Velez with its fishing and leisure boats. Just up the road from the marina is the popular Baviera Golf course. There many international restaurants including traditional Spanish, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Argentinean, French, Moroccan and vegetarian.

Shoppers are very well catered for with mainly small outlets in the town and the large out-of-town El Ingenio shopping centre within walking distance. More shops are available as you head towards Velez Malaga itself and there you will find a popular Thursday market.
The best way to get to Torre del Mar by road is by taking the A7 from Malaga in the Motril direction and turning off at the Torre del Mar/Velez Malaga junction.
